Commack native, SBU alum inks NFL deal after 2021 draft

|

Commack’s Augie Contressa is one of the newest members of the Super Bowl winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Stony Brook University defensive back signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Buccs following the 2021 NFL Draft, which concluded Saturday evening.

One of Contressa’s best season with the Seawolves came in 2019 when he recorded 88 total tackles with 10.5 tackles for a loss.

The 6-foot, 210 pounder was described by USA Today NFL Draft reporter Luke Easterling as a “versatile defender with a chance to stick on special teams, and even push for that last safety spot.” See the tweet here.

Contressa wasn’t the only Seawolf to ink a deal following this year’s draft. His teammates defensive back TJ Morrison (Las Vegas Raiders) and defensive tackle Sam Kamara (Chicago Bears) both signed UDFA deals.

Including these three, this makes 17 Seawolves to earn NFL opportunities over the last three years.

Last year, these former Seawolves were playing in the league. This includes defensive backs Gavin Heslop (Seattle Seahawks) and Chris Cooper (Denver Broncos), as well as tight end Connor Davis (New York Jets) and offensive lineman Timon Parris (Atlanta Falcons and Washington Football Team).
